Leona Lewis was hit unexpectedly at the signing of her autobiography, Dreams, yesterday.
Police were called to the Waterstone’s bookshop at Piccadilly, London, where the man was arrested and taken away for questioning by the police.
Leona has been left ‘shaken’ by the incident and has bruised the side of her face, according to her spokesperson.
Leona had been signing copies of her book for around and hour and a half before the incident took place.
One person, who was in the shop when it happened, said: “She was running out with her hand over her eye and I just saw a man on the floor.
“Suddenly the security all jumped on him and they were trying to pull him out and he was just laughing, he thought it was funny.”
A spokesperson for Waterstone’s said: “We would like to thank Leona for her professionalism.
“We are extremely sad that this event was ruined for her, and her fans, many of whom queued from the early hours of the morning to meet her.”
November is set to be a very busy month for Leona with the release of her book Dreams and her second album called Echo.
