Foreign exchange students were threatened with legal action- for squeezing a muffin to judge its freshness.

Two 17-year-old Italian girls visited their local Tesco and picked up a blueberry muffin from the bakery counter and judged to see how fresh it was, the girls then tested another cupcake, gave it a squeeze before choosing a third option which they brought from the Tesco branch in Devon.

When they were about to leave the security guards warned them they had seen them on the CCTV cameras. Then the girls were taken to the basement for ‘questioning’ and were told they could possibly be prosecuted and fined” on the accusation of “food contamination”.

The guards wouldn’t listen to the girls when they explained that in Italy there were a much more hands on approach to food shopping and that they forget their place and the guards continued to prattle that they were caught damaging the food!

The security at the store has created a bit of a reputation for it’s no nonsense approach at banned another customer form the shop entirely for taking a bite of his bread before paying for it and the man David Bowes claimed he was “treated like a terrorist” when stopped by the ruthless security.
